Who is eligible to play football for Attleboro White Hawks?

Attleboro residents entering grades Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Parents should register their athlete based on their upcoming grade, and not their current grade.

We do not live in Attleboro, can we still play for AWH?

Rosters are limited to 36 players. Attleboro residents will take first priority.

If you live in a city/town that offers an AYF program, a waiver will be required. Please reach out for details.

If you live in a city/town that only offers Pop Warner, or does not have a youth football program, then no waiver is needed.

Do you offer flag football?

Flag football is currently offered for grades kindergarten and 1st grade.

Tackle football is offered for 2nd through 8th grade.

Is tackle football competitive?

2nd & 3rd graders are combined and are considered instructional football. A coach will be on the field with them for the first 4 games. Modified rules are used to account for the instructional environment. Scores and standings are not kept.

Grades 4-8 are considered competitive. Scores and standings are kept. Coaches are not on the field at these levels.

What equipment do I need to provide?

All players will need their own football cleats and a mouth guard. It is recommended that you purchase multiple mouth guards for your athlete since they will eventually chew through them or lose them.

AWH supplies 2 game jerseys, game pants, practice pants, shoulder pads, rib pads, and a helmet. Some players choose to wear an integrated shirt under their pads in lieu of rib pads. This is optional and not required.

Helmet modifications are strictly prohibited. Please do not attempt to swap out the supplied chin strap.

Players should bring their own water to all practices and games.

A football player pack will be available to purchase that includes a practice jersey, game socks, and other items.

When does practice start?

Tackle football practice starts the 4th Monday in July.

Flag football practice starts the following week. Your coach will communicate days & times.

When are games?

Games usually start Memorial Day Weekend.

Due to the late holiday in 2026, games will start the weekend of August 29/30.

The regular season lasts for 9 weeks with 8 games played and 1 bye week. A bye week may not be scheduled if the amount of teams in a division does not warrant a bye week.

Teams may qualify for playoffs. Teams that do not qualify for the playoffs may participate in a post-season tournament playing against other non-qualifying teams. This gives every athlete the opportunity to play post-season football.

When do we get the schedule?

The schedule will not be available until mid-August. All schedules are subject to change due to any number of issues including field availability, inclement weather, referee availability, or extenuating circumstances.

Please do not try to schedule short trips or other events around the game schedule since it can change at any moment.

What is the parent/guardian commitment?

Fundraising: Parents/guardians are required to participate in fundraising throughout the season. Attending a fundraising event is a great way to get involved, meet other people within our program and raise money for our league without soliciting donations.

Volunteering: Our organization is run entirely by volunteers. Volunteers are needed throughout the season for game days and special events.

What is the attendance policy for football players?

All players are expected to be at every practice and game. Any absence must be communicated ahead of time with your head coach.

Multiple absences during the week will limit your athlete’s playing time for that weekend’s game.

How much playing time will my child receive?

Each team has a Minimum Play Requirement (MPR) based on roster size. Each player must play the minimum amount of plays that are required.

Anything more than the MPR is up to the Head Coach’s discretion.

How do I stay informed?

AWH will use a combination of email, social media, and our website to communicate association-wide news and events.

Each team will also have their own internal communications app, whether it be BAND, GameChanger, TeamLinkt, etc.
